Lake Garda I Italy I My Day Trip
Going on a day trip to Lake Garda is a must when you are on vacations in South Tyrol. It is the largest lake in Italy and just around the corner of South Tyrol. I have been to Lake Garda twice and I do love the crystal clear water, the Mediterranean climate and the vegetation which is dominated by palms, lemon groves, cypresses and orange trees.
Tourists come to Lake Garda for relaxing, as well as outdoor and water sport activities. To be honest, Lake Garda is always full of tourist. Finding a spot that is less touristic is really difficult especially in high season but it’s worth to see it.
My advice: Visit Lake Garda before June, then you will have a more authentic experience. Also, don’t go to the famous beaches, choose one of the small little beaches that are in between two towns.
Day tripping – what is possible to see within a day at Lake Garda:
We started from Schenna (where we stayed) around 8 a.m. and made our way down to Lake Garda. We stopped for a walk and ice cream in Torbole. In Tori del Benaco, after several stops for photos and going for a swim in between, we had lunch and took a passenger/car ferry to Toscolano Maderno (from Malcesine to Limone there is another passenger/car ferry). From Toscolano Maderno we carried on to Limone, which is the most popular destination.
Be aware: it is always full of tourists there. What I love about that cute city are the narrow streets and the unique Italian architecture.
Strolling along the streets, eating Ice cream and buying souvenirs that’s how our day trip ended. We got back home around 8 p.m.
Where did you go to Lake Garda and do you share my passion about this area? Let me know in the comments.

Posted at 16:27h, 05 AugustI've not visited Lake Garda, but my husband has been twice and says the gelato is delicious! I love Italy, but I do think I'd prefer to visit when there are less tourists!
