Things to do in Kenya I Africa – My 10 day Kenya itinerary

Kenya Country - nation Kenya , Places to visit in Kenya

Join me on my Kenya adventure and get to know the best things to do in Kenya Africa.

I traveled through Mozambique, Malawi, South Africa, Namibia, parts of Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana. Kenya was my first country in East Africa. Not only it is famous for its stunningly beautiful beaches but also for its variety of wildlife. I had 10 days to spend here and decided to do a bit of everything. Through the people I met on my travels I received ideas of things to do in Kenya, where to go and also was put in touch with local Kenyans. One of them is Kevin, a local that became my tour guide for Mombasa, Nairobi, the surrounding of Nairobi and Masai Mara. What I found a bit sad while traveling Kenya is that tourism is a bit stuck in Kenya right now due to a few attacks that happened years ago. Kenya newspapers would be the most current way of keeping up with current affairs in Kenya. I hope my posts and videos inspire more people to visit this beautiful country. In fact, Kenya has a lot more to offer than what I did but I made the most out of my trip and I would like to share my itinerary with you:

Day 1: Mombasa | Republic of Kenya

Mombasa is a city on the east coast of Kenya and the second largest city in the country. It is important to mention as well, that back in the day Mombasa had a big influence as a trading center on the Indian Ocean trade route. To be honest with you, the city itself you can easily explore within a day. Indeed, you should plan more time to chill at the beautiful beaches of Mombasa.

Kilifi transportation | How to get to Kilifi?

I went by public transport (Matatu) but you can also get an uber or let your lodge arrange a taxi for you.

Where to stay in Kilifi?

My favorite place to stay: Distant Relatives, an amazing eco-lodge. Check it out! BTW Distant Relatives also hosts one of Kenya’s most popular New Year’s Eve Party. Don´t miss out on that if you are around at this time.

Day 6 – 8: Nairobi | Republic of Kenya

Kenya´s capital is one of the most developed cities I have found in Africa so far. The city is home to many embassies from countries all over the world. Besides that, it is one of the 4 major UN office sites, home to many other international organizations and in general a hub for African culture and business. In conclusion, it is worth it to make Nairobi a stop on your list as the city has a lot to offer.

Day 9-10:  Masai Mara | Republic of Kenya

Masai Mara , African Holiday

Masai Mara is situated on the Tanzanian border and the most popular National Park in Kenya. Besides that, it is one of the most popular National Parks in Africa. In fact, it is one of the best parks to see the BIG 5 (Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo).
